FleishmanHillard’s St. Louis is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time paid summer intern position. Interns are an integral part of our teams, giving participants real-life experience and skills that will help them succeed in their communications careers in the future.

Deadlines for Summer submissions: March 1 The internship is a paid, full-time position requiring a commitment of at least three months (May 26 – September 2, 2021)

Interested candidates must attach the following items to their online application upon submission:

  • Cover letter expressing interest in the internship program

  • Resume

  • Writing samples (three if possible): Examples would be something written for a classroom assignment or previous internship (press release, pitch letter, media kit, social media calendar), a campus newspaper or magazine article, or an essay, blog post, letter, or memo of some sort

  • Letter of recommendation from a former teacher, employer, supervisor, or personal reference (teacher or employer are preferred)

  • Transcript (can be unofficial)

Responsibilities

Interns have the opportunity to be a part of the account staff teams and assist with campaign conception to execution, developing media materials, building relationships with journalists, conducting research, drafting online content calendars and other account-related activities. All candidates must also exhibit a desire and motivation to learn and the ability to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

This full-time paid summer internship is 40 hours per week that runs from May 26 - September 2 with the opportunity for extension.

  • Ideal candidates will have at least a 3.2 GPA and completed their junior year of college, though recent graduates are preferred, and completed college coursework in journalism, public relations, communications or related fields.

  • Fundamental writing, research, communications, critical-thinking skills and strong time management.

  • Ability to work easily in both large team environments and independently.

  • Prior internship experience at a public relations firm or corporate communications department; Prior internship experience where the role involved writing, content creation, social media, etc.

  • Open interest in Corporate Reputation, Brand Marketing, Public Affairs & Engagement and/or Internal Communications.

  • Demonstrate the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn from our industry-leading team of counselors.
