As a Strategy Consultant at IBM, you will help reinvent businesses and industries by developing and utilizing specialized knowledge of industry-specific and cross-industry competitive strategies. You'll manage complex components of an engagement, working closely with clients and their customers to understand their pain points. Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for an exceptionally talented and technology focused consultant to contribute to the continuing transformation of IBM. Your role will drive C-suite initiated engagements in support of IBM’s internal strategy.
Our clients are IBM Business Units. We work on the most important and challenging strategic issues these internal organizations face. We step back across all IBM business units to externally spot new market opportunities and business models to take IBM in new directions.
Responsibilities and Duties
Corporate strategy projects include a wide range strategic topics across the IBM business
for example current projects include defining new market opportunities and IBM strategy to win, sales/go-to-market strategy, critical business unit strategies, acquisition strategies, market business model profiling and prioritization, critical execution program design and others. You will work with business unit leaders to assist in the development of strategy projects while working collaboratively with other leaders on the Corporate Strategy team. These projects must demonstrate sound strategic logic and be based on fact-based analyses.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
A bachelor’s degree from a respected university is the minimum required, preferably in economics or other business discipline, or a technical undergraduate degree with an MBA
5 years post undergraduate experience in investment banking, consulting and/or as an analyst in a well-respected technology firm.
Quantitatively strong with a natural curiosity about technology.
Strong technical aptitude and very familiar with software products and markets.
Ability to lead teams and inspire others.
Excellent communications skills as this position will have visibility to senior level management.
Must be able to demonstrate strategic thinking skills with ability to think on their feet and ask and answer strategically important questions.
Candidate must be comfortable with working with incomplete information, understand how to use tools and other resources to complete assignments, and be highly creative.
