Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Our NIH-funded laboratory is seeking an energetic, highly motivated postdoctoral fellow for full-time work. Laboratory studies are focused on pathogenesis of Gram-negative bacterial infections, particularly those of the kidneys and urinary bladder. Techniques include cloning and molecular biology, biochemistry, cell/tissue culture, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, and mouse models of infection. We have a specific need for analysis of RNAseq and other omics data sets. For more details visit: http://research.peds.wustl.edu/labs/hunstad_david_a. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Designs and conducts biomedical research experiments, including standard laboratory and molecular biology techniques, work with pathogenic bacteria, and animal models of bacterial infection. 2. Independently evaluates own research findings and communicates these to the laboratory team, PI, and collaborators. 3. Prepares and delivers oral research presentations. 4. Prepares and submits research manuscripts to appropriate biomedical journals. 5. Provides guidance to graduate students and other junior trainees regarding their experiments and data interpretation. 6. Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research, including rules governing human subjects research and animal care and use. 7. Maintains compliance with good laboratory practice, including the maintenance of adequate research records. 8. Adheres to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations. Required Qualifications Ph.D., M.D., or an equivalent terminal or doctoral degree. Preferred Qualifications * Demonstrated ability to implement laboratory procedures, conduct research, accurately and completely record findings, communicate results, and generate manuscripts for publication. * Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. * Experience with RNAseq and related types of data analysis is strongly preferred. * Additional software experience (e.g., Prism, imaging software, Photoshop) is desirable. Salary Range Base pay commensurate with experience.
