Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides clinical office support to ensure patient satisfaction under general supervision, including scheduling appointments, greeting patients, performing registration, including insurance information and check in/out functions. Verifies insurance benefits, prepares correspondence, collects co-pays and outstanding balances. Must be willing to travel to other Ortho locations, must be able to work varied schedules. Local travel to satellite office will be necessary. Some evenings or Saturday hours may be required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedule patient appointments either by phone, or at the front desk.
  2. Greets and assists patients and visitors; obtains initial patient information; screens phone calls for most effective patient care.
  3. Verifies insurance, obtains referrals if required, collect co-pays and outstanding balances.
  4. Organize fee tickets on a daily basis and send to billing office.
  5. Attends in-services and staff meetings.

Other Functions:

  1. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma with 3 years of experience in billing systems and third-party claims and/or experience in a medical office setting or related customer service/office experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IDX experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Organization, communication and computing skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and referral procedures.
  • Orthopaedic experience a plus.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $15.54 - $19.05 per hour.
