Wood is recruiting for a Natural Resources/NEPA Technical Professional to report to our St. Louis, Missouri Office. This is a position which will appeal to individuals with an understanding of the NEPA process, have a good work ethic, and with genuine interest in career growth within a professional team of environmental scientists and biologists. The successful candidate will report to Project Managers and work will be performed to support and maintain the delivery of projects related to NEPA and other laws and policies. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of consulting experience in planning, natural resources permitting, or similar field and experience preparing or assisting in preparation of NEPA compliance documents including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements. Experience with public involvement and in coordinating with state, federal, and municipal governments is a plus. An understanding of the energy market, familiarity of the NEPA process and resources of consideration in the process, and understanding of environmental regulations such as Clean Water Act Section 404 permitting and the Endangered Species Act.
Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions invites qualified applicants with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of biology, ecology, planning, environmental science, or an equivalent discipline with between approximately 3 and 10 years direct work experience to apply for the position.
This role will serve a critical function for the delivery of environmental documents. This position will support on-going environmental assessment projects with the following key responsibilities:
Work with the NEPA group to produce high quality, defensible documents
Ability to meet project schedules
Understanding of impact assessment methodologies and technical writing
Flexibility and willingness to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
Involvement in and support of agency coordination/consultation efforts
BS degree in the field of biology, ecology, planning, environmental science, or an equivalent discipline
3-5 years of applicable experience with NEPA documentation
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to produce concise documents that meet required standards
Valid driver’s license and good driving record for travel within the central US
Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills and excellent writing skills (Must be prepared to provide a recent example of a professional document, such as Environmental Assessment or Environmental Impact Statement, showing the portion(s) of the document written or co-authored by the applicant)
Formal NEPA training is preferred, but not required
