Ameren Manager, Executive Rewards in St Louis, Missouri

The Manager, Executive Rewards leads the design, implementation, communication and delivery of executive rewards plans, programs and processes in partnership with key stakeholders. This role is responsible for leading and providing oversight of executive rewards programs, consulting on executive rewards matters, and for preparing materials for the proxy disclosure and Human Resources Committee meetings. This collaborative role works cross-functionally with Business Leaders, HR professionals, Finance, and Legal to understand business issues and collectively develop effective business and executive rewards solutions. This role reports to the Director, Compensation & Performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the HR senior leaders, the Board's external compensation consultant and other key stakeholders, as necessary, to develop materials (agenda, analysis, reports and presentations) for the Human Resources Committee of the Board.

  • Manage activities related to executive short- and long-term incentive program design, administration and communication.

  • Lead the annual proxy data analysis and writing process for the executive compensation portions of the proxy, ensuring accuracy of the compensation related tables, CEO pay ratio, and all other relevant executive compensation disclosures.

  • Work with external compensation consultant for the annual market rate review of Officer level base pay and incentive targets, and for interim market reviews, as necessary to support organization changes.

  • Perform executive level rewards best practice benchmarking. This includes monitoring applicable shareholder advisory firms, SEC, ISS, Glass Lewis, accounting and tax regulations to support decision-making and ensure Ameren's plans remain compliant and competitive.

  • Manage activities related to the annual merit and incentive planning process for Ameren Leadership Team roles.

  • Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including collaboration with HR leaders, payroll, accounting, treasury and legal.

  • Lead and/or participate in a variety of executive rewards projects or other duties, as assigned.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance/Accounting, or related field required

  • Eight or more years of progressively responsible HR and/or compensation specialty experience required.

  • Direct experience in executive compensation experience required. Five years of advanced professional experience in executive compensation design and administration strongly preferred.

  • Four or more years of supervisory or team/project leadership experience is required.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) certifications preferred

High level of initiative with a drive for results, ability to identify process improvements and multi-task required. Strong Microsoft Office competency including Excel, Word and PowerPoint also required.
