Bayer Director of Product, New Revenue Opportunities in St. Louis, Missouri

Position Overview:

Climate is helping the world’s farmers sustainably increase their farm productivity with digital tools. We collect and process vast amounts of agronomic data that is built into algorithms and recommendation engines. We then deliver insights to farmers in a suite of software products that allow them to help produce enough food to feed the ever-growing population.

In this role, you will report directly into the Chief Product Officer and be responsible for defining, prioritizing and delivering revenue generating product features into the market based on the insights of our agronomic research. We have a pipeline of scientific studies happening in partnership with our growers all around the globe. You will ensure that we are able to maximize the market value of this research in these new opportunities that focus on agronomic workflows, agronomic data, and science-driven insights.

What you will do:

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the discovery, definition, design, and delivery of product features driven by Climate’s new revenue opportunities product teams, focusing on:

  • Crop protection

  • Inputs and practices

  • Intelligence and analytics

  • Sustainability and carbon initiatives

  • Work with stakeholders across Bayer Crop Science, Strategic Retail Partners, Strategy, Commercial, Marketing, Product, Science, and Engineering teams to align and prioritize new revenue opportunities for the Climate business

  • Act as a trusted advisor by building and maintaining strong relationships with other company leaders to understand our software, science and data capabilities and then advise on the best way to productize those capabilities.

  • Hire, develop, evaluate, reward, and retain a highly-qualified team of product professionals. Maintain succession and continuity plans for all critical product management positions.

  • Work with corporate strategy, growth ventures, and commercial partnership teams to identify opportunities for investment and collaboration that result in new revenue opportunities

  • Closely partner with your Product Director peers in SaaS, DaaS, and Strategy to help define overall product priorities and achieve alignment with Climate’s leadership team for maximizing value driven by new revenue streams

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of enterprise product development or product management experience

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing product management teams

  • 3+ years of experience leading software application product development

  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of how digital products can enable science-driven value generation at farm gate, input manufacturers, agricultural service providers, and resellers

  • Experience working hands-on with engineering teams to deliver new products and features in an agile development environment

  • Experience in valuing product concepts and calculating Return on Investment for components of agronomic workflows

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity

  • BS in a technical field or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Computer Science, business, math, agronomy, or other technical field

  • MBA

  • Experience in agronomic workflows and revenue generation

  • Experience working with researchers and scientists to bring innovations to markets

  • Ability to execute research projects, and generate practical results and solid recommendations

  • Proficiency with customer-driven product development process, research methods, and product utilization related analytical tools

  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and a variety of disciplines

  • Strong communication skills
