Washington University of St. Louis Dialysis Technician II - North County Kidney Center - 51385 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. Position hours are Monday - Saturday, four days a week (alternating Saturdays), 5:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the North County Kidney Center. The position is located at 367 Parker (minutes away from CHNE). Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: * Position performs duties related to patient care, such as initiating and terminating dialysis treatments, performing phlebotomy, maintaining records and responding to needs of patients that are treated in the outpatient dialysis setting. *PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Arranges and maintains equipment and supplies for performance of dialysis and other procedures, including preparation of Dialysate solutions. 2. Performs cannulation, initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis treatment. 3. Observes and monitors patient vital signs and significant dialysis treatment parameters; assesses patient signs and symptoms and provides treatment accordingly. 4. Communicates pertinent patient information or changes in patient condition to the team leader; documents these results per unit’s policies. 5. Transports, weighs, and assists patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and chairs. 6. Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and responds to patient concerns in a timely manner. Required Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with six months of experience in a hospital or outpatient health care facility setting. * Certification by nationally recognized board (CCHT, BONET or NNCO) is required within 18 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications * Dialysis experience. * Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). * Medical Assistant/CAN certification. * Organizational, interpersonal, communication, and phlebotomy skills. * Ability to work in a team setting. * Mathematical ability. * Ability to respond appropriately in emergent situations. * Working knowledge of computers. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $15.85 - $19.43 per hour.
