Position Description:

Position Purpose:

Contributes to the profitability of the company by the economical and efficient procurement of materials, supplies, services and equipment for mining operations

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work with St Louis based Procure to Pay team in bidding of purchase requisitions and maintenance of outline agreements

  • Initiates negotiations with vendors both Australia and US to ensure materials and supplies are purchased at the most economical total life cycle cost

  • Support negotiations and renew supplier contracts to purchase critical materials, parts, components and tooling

  • Solicits routine fax quotations, written quotations and telephone quotations for assigned requisitions

  • Provides detailed cost analysis, combined with practical experience in order to make sound purchasing decisions

  • Provides timely review and reporting on the status of term purchase orders

  • Expedites documentation thereby contributing to the department’s ability to purchase materials and supplies in a timely manner

  • Manage daily administrative requirements for successful team metrics, including requisitions processing, competitive part quotations, escalation analysis, price discrepancies and related tasks.

  • Maintains purchase history files in an accurate, up-to-date order

  • Administration, negotiation and maintenance of vendor outline agreements

  • Agreement escalation analysis, feedback & support to Category Managers

  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures

  • Provide team backup as required and special projects as assigned

Job Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required

  • A minimum of 5 years purchasing experience preferred

  • A practical, working knowledge of automated materials and purchasing systems as well as general knowledge of accounting procedures and computer technology

  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, thrive in a fast-paced industry and office atmosphere and possess advanced problem- solving capability

  • Must have the ability to interface with all levels of management

  • Must have the ability to gather, analyze, and summarize data and give recommendations

  • Must possess highly developed written and oral communication skills including drafting of contract terms and conditions

  • Adherence to high ethical standards and integrity are absolutely required

  • Working knowledge of SAP

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Work Schedule and Travel:

  • Must be able to travel to remote mining operations and supplier locations

  • Flexible Hours when needed
