Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

Responsible to the Plant Manager for the overall operations, control and coordination of all manufacturing, Process Control and Technical Support activities. Ensures that safety and regulatory requirements are met, products manufactured conform to specifications and that plant objectives related to production are achieved and inventory policies are maintained as per company directives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees preparation of departmental budgets. Develops, implements and directs programs to ensure that production and service functions are performed when and where needed and at the appropriate level of quality and reliability within the established budgets.

Directs and controls all manufacturing operations, including planning of work flow and production scheduling, process control and technical support functions, including employee relations, safety and quality.

Assures that backorder situations are kept to minimum through effective production execution according to planning requirements and works with Quality Management to resolve issues that may result in shipment delays affecting product availability.

Ensures that Manufacturing Departmental policies, procedures, practices, facilities and equipment are current and effective to comply with all appropriate Government and Corporate regulations.

In conjunction with Quality establishes and overviews programs to ensure compliance of Operations Department with FDA, Corporate, ISO and Divisional Regulatory requirements.

In conjunction with EH&S overviews compliance of Operations Department with OSHA regulations and Corporate and Divisional Safety Objectives. Overviews safety training and inspection programs.

Analyzes operating practices to create new systems technology or revise established procedures that will optimize productivity and improve product quality. Promotes the establishment of Continuous Improvement Teams in Operations area to achieve improvements in efficiency and quality.

In conjunction with Human Resources ensures that Corporate, Divisional and Plant policies are consistently interpreted and implemented towards all employees and that departmental policies conform to local and federal statutes.

In conjunction with Human Resources develops, implements and controls programs to ensure career development of Operations personnel, including in-house and outside training.

In conjunction with Quality plans and executes validation programs for all manufacturing areas.

Participates in the development and execution of programs for transfer of new products and technology. Develops manufacturing and process control documentation, validation protocols and training programs for operations personnel involved.

Assists in the development of strategies designed to achieve the Divisional goals and objectives. Once approved, develops and implements specific action plans to ensure the assignment and commitment of adequate resources to successfully achieve the stated goals.

Coordinates and schedules shipments of finished goods for all manufacturing areas.

Has the responsibility to accept the notice of inspection on behalf of BD.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 15 years of experience, including management of operations (manufacturing level). Hands-on experience in areas including: Production, Supply Chain, Quality Control, Materials Management, Finance, Engineering, Facilities & EH&S. Familiar with aspects of marketing, sales and research and development. Eight to 10 years of progressive supervisory experience required.

Experience working in highly regulated manufacturing environments including FDA (QSR/GMP’s, GLP’s), ISO & OSHA is preferred.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

Lean Six Sigma, Green Belt Certification

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering or Business Administration or related field.

Work Environment:

Hours of operation are flexible and vary depending on job requirements. Typical work week is 40 hours with additional/variable hours for specific work periods and projects. Specific work days and hours are flexible and may change with advance notice.

The nature of the work requires exposure to chemicals, noise. Exposure to machinery and non-ionizing radiation
