Citigroup US Retail Banking Risk Lead in O'Fallon, Missouri
The US Retail Banking (USRB) Risk Lead is the senior risk leader for the USRB product & segment
organization and serves as the risk partner to the head of retail banking product & segment. This
role is responsible for leading 3 teams comprised of approximately 25 FTE focused on risk
strategy & execution for deposit product, unsecured credit, and program and change management.
This role reports to the Chief Risk Officer for the US Retail Bank and will serve as a
critical member of the USRB risk leadership team. This is a senior management-level position
responsible for leading risk management results through the team, monitoring the Citi portfolio
and identifying credit migration in coordination with the risk management team. The overall
objective of this role is to lead the management of Citi's retail portfolio exposure to client and
counterparties.
Responsibilities:
Overall accountability of end-to-end risk management of the USRB risk exposures
Leads a team in the development & execution of the USRB deposit product risk strategy including specific area: Funds availability, new accounts, mobile check deposit, overdrafts and risk transaction monitoring to contain Citi’s credit risk within acceptable parameters
Analyzes credit risk and provide credit recommendations and guidance to senior risk & business leaders
Leads risk management for consumer unsecured credit including: Credit originations and portfolio management, reporting & analytics for monitoring and executing policy/strategy changes. Additional accountability for consumer collections, recovery, policy and strategy development and monitoring & reporting
Assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Responsible for annual regulatory efforts to complete required activities to support Dodd-Frank/IDI Resolution and Recovery Planning Chapters and supporting activities
Serves as a chair for the Fraud Deposit Risk Forum & leads change management governance & oversight including the review of significant changes (rules, strategies for deposit Risk and Fraud (e.g. EFD changes, authentication changes)
Manages remediation and reporting of USRB Risk issues
Leads Third Party Management (TPM) – Credit Bureaus (Annual Due Diligence, TPISAs, Monthly monitoring, Compliance reviews, SOW renewals)
Escalation point of risk exposures and issues as appropriate including information security for key systems applications (e.g. vulnerability assessments)
Partners with stakeholder groups including Independent Risk
Leads additional initiatives to advance the retail business risk strategy
Qualifications:
15+ years of direct experience with retail banking credit risk including 10+yrs in a senior leadership role
Experience as senior divisional risk officer and or senior divisional credit office in a complex retail banking or similar organization preferred
Excellent program management skills
Accomplished analytical thought-leader
Must be able to resolve complex issues that result in visibility to external parties (e.g. regulators) and may have material impact on the US Retail franchise
Requires advanced communications (written & verbal) skills in order to effectively influence leaders to take action and resolve questions posed by regulators or other internal control functions
Must demonstrate an ability to establish credibility and build strong relationships
Strong operational risk and internal control experience
Comprehensive understanding of the industry and direct competitors' products and services
Comprehensive understanding of strategic direction of the function
In-depth conceptual/practical grounding in the risk function
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s degree preferred
