GEHA Intern, Legal & Risk in Lee’s Summit, Missouri

SKILLS

The GEHA Legal and Risk Division has an exciting opportunity for a current law student to gain experience working in a fast-paced, in-house setting. The Legal and Risk Intern will supplement existing staff and provide support to the teams within the Legal and Risk Division, which include Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Privacy, Information Governance and Records Management, and the Vendor Management Office (VMO). The Legal and Risk intern will get the opportunity to assist with legal research, contracts, and numerous initiatives relating to compliance, data privacy, ERM, vendor management, and information governance. The Legal and Risk Intern will also gain general exposure to numerous other parts of the company through their work.

The ideal candidate will have completed courses in contracts, healthcare law, information governance, data privacy, risk management, tax (especially regarding tax-exempt entities), or have prior professional experience in such areas.

To be eligible for consideration, intern candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • 3.0 overall GPA

  • Must be enrolled in an ABA accredited law school

  • Must be team-oriented and possess a positive attitude

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Good analytical skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Demonstrate initiative both independently and within a team

  • Proficient in Excel, Outlook and Word

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent research and writing skills

  • Experience in the healthcare field or academic classes taken on healthcare law
