How will you make an impact?

The Field and Validation Applications Scientist (FVAS) Manager leads a team of highly skilled and experienced Field and Validation Applications Scientists to deliver world class support, services and training across the Human Identification (HID) product and applications portfolio for Forensic Laboratories and Law Enforcement agencies. Manage FVAS team across NA to achieve customer satisfaction, validation and training revenue targets and operating expense budgets.

Maintain a high level of employee satisfaction and develop team members to their fullest potential. Partner with our Customers, Account Management, Technical Support, Service, HID Professional Services (HPS), Marketing, Product Management (PM) and R&D teams to understand, define and address customer and business needs and goals. Actively work to ensure customer success, help drive growth and accurately forecast HPS, support and training opportunities and resources needs. Be a leader, champion and advocate for your team on the NA Commercial leadership team.

Remote position located in North America, reporting to the Director of NA Sales.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science or related field - or equivalent experience

  • Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • As a leader to the team inspire, coach and motivate to achieve excellence across the HID business and ensure customer success.

  • Travel with the team and visit customers to build and maintain good relationships, monitor customer needs, satisfaction and market value, services and products.

  • Partner with Account Managers, Technical Support, HID Professional Services and Field Service teams to create a cross functional team focused on exceeding customer needs, improve efficiencies and add value.

  • Oversee, monitor and help resolve customer support and escalations as a part of the Customer Support and Service leadership teams.

  • Actively seek and develop process improvements which enhance our ability to provide support, training and validation services to enhance the customer experience.

  • Support the NA Validation Application Scientist Manager and Account Management team in the management, forecast projections and revenue growth activities of the NA HID Professional Services business.

  • Partner with internal applications, support and professional services teams to drive strategies for growth and expansion of validation and training offerings.

  • Provide input to Product Management, internal support, and R&D teams to continually improve the product capabilities and workflows.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • 10 years of practitioner experience in the field of forensic DNA analysis

  • Strong technical/scientific aptitude with working knowledge of Thermo Fisher Scientific Human Identification products and business practices; working knowledge of how to assess and help drive customer support, service and escalation issues to a satisfactory resolution

  • Leadership/management experience and a distinct leadership philosophy

  • Customer centric, team player who can effectively integrate internal and field-based activities across functions to balance customer and business needs

  • Clear communication skills; capable of interacting with a diverse population of internal and external customers; and a proven ability to balance and prioritize the requirements of internal and external stakeholders in an ever-changing environment, negotiating solutions and achieve consensus

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, curiosity, contagious optimism and a 'can do' attitude; comfortable taking calculated risks and learning from mistakes

  • Stretches across borders, breaks silos and builds effective partnerships with customers and colleagues

  • Ability and willingness to travel at least 25-40%
