Mars Operator II (8 Hour Afternoon Shift) in Kansas City, Missouri

Shift: 3 PM- 11:30 PM

Position Summary:

The Operator II is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the line to meet and /or exceed production objectives and to assist the Shift Supervisor with the day to day operation strategies. Perform operator level on-line preventive maintenance as needed.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimum supervision and positive attitude.

  2. Act as shift team liaison with other operating teams.

  3. Participate in the various Operations teams.

  4. Perform area changeovers and continuous improvement activities in area.

  5. Communicate accurate and timely information about downtime issues to technicians on other shifts.

  6. Production documentation and troubleshooting inventory issues as required.

  7. Participate in all identified training.

  8. Participate with the Shift Supervisor to implement improvement strategies that will help the line/area perform more efficiently.

  9. Participate in the Safety program as it applies to production area to include area audits and conformance to all area LOTO and safety procedures.

  10. Perform all line related quality activities.

  11. Complete all operator level PM work orders as needed and communicate work order requests.

  12. Demonstrate a food safety quality culture in actions, words and spirit.

  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, experience, and skills Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years industrial experience

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English. Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of Safety, Quality and Material Management Systems and procedures

  • Working Knowledge of food safety, GMP, GHOP, HACCP, SPC

  • Proven ability to optimize equipment to meet and/or exceed product specifications, schedule, and planned rates

  • Complex problem solving skills

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Manual dexterity

  • Attention to detail

  • High level troubleshooting skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial plant systems, equipment and operations

  • Working knowledge of injection molding processes and equipment if assigned

  • Must have basic skills in use of industrial mechanics and electrician tools

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high, and/or confined spaces and have full mobility to climb stairs and ladders
