UMB Bank Intl Payments Ops Spec in Kansas City, Missouri

What You'll Do:

This role handles the daily wire transfer processing duties and foreign check processing. This position must be able to operate with little supervision based on thorough knowledge and application of procedures. The job responsibilities will encompass the following:

  • Process international and domestic payment orders received over the phone from customers and perform detail-oriented data entry by researching and formatting each wire to ensure formatting requirements for each country are met.

  • Review, verify and determine accuracy of international and domestic payment orders prior to final approval.

  • Research and apply proper routing to international payment orders using all available routing resources.

  • Research and respond to mandated external and internal audits regarding transactional and database information

  • Notify customers of foreign exchange rate, currency, and value dates on their transactions to guard against foreign exchange loss. Perform other basic foreign exchange functions at request of our customers such as debiting or crediting a Multi-Currency Account and splitting a foreign exchange trade.

  • Act as an international expert to all customers and internal business partners by providing advice regarding foreign currencies, foreign country restrictions, routing requirements, and payment formatting to guard against foreign exchange loss, delayed payments, and/or the incursion of additional foreign bank fees.

  • Participate in various projects related to security, industry standards, surveys, and system upgrades as assigned.

  • Provide expert advice to bank personnel and account officers based on extensive procedural and documentation research as well as occasional transactional analysis to aid in the resolution of issues.

  • Review and decision possible OFAC hits identified by the wire application to ensure we maintain compliance with the Office of Foreign Assets Control and the U.S. Treasury.

  • Process foreign check deposits from internal and external customers converting from foreign currency to US Dollars when necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to operate within a highly automated, but very stressful production environment that holds little tolerance for error

  • Must have the ability to work directly with both internal and external customers in providing assistance

  • Demonstrates knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Demonstrates strong verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrates above average understanding of world geography

  • Demonstrates above average spelling skills

  • Demonstrates above average mathematical skills

Who You Are:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Three (3) years of customer service experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Two (2) years of Bank Operations experience
