Rinzler Group Electrical Field Technician in Kansas City, Missouri
The Electrical Field Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance on Low and Medium Voltage distribution systems. The successful candidate will be highly motivated with an electrical construction background, technical aptitude, and engineering support experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low and medium voltage electrical systems, and moderately complex relay calibration and power metering, including:
Power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance)
Testing both electro-mechanical and solid state relays
Cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot)
Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting
Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
Perform maintenance and repair work on substation equipment.
Repair, replace and clean equipment and components including circuit breakers, brushes and commutators.
Schedule and supervise the construction and testing of special devices and the implementation of unique monitoring and control systems.
Analyze test data to diagnose malfunctions, to determine performance characteristics of systems, and to evaluate effects of systems notifications.
Frequently travel to and perform field work at customer's industrial and commercial sites throughout the local and regional area.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required with 3 years of experience working in a similar role and equivalent combination of education and experience required.
3+ years of experience diagnosing and repairing, low & medium voltage switchgear, free-standing relay panels, circuit breakers, motor control centers, automatic transfer switches, UPS, PLC control systems, SCADA systems, battery charges and batteries
This position requires travel 50% of the time, with some extended stays away from home.
