Ross & Baruzzini Inc. Electrical Engineer in Kansas City, Missouri

Title: Electrical Engineer

Location: Kansas City, MO (office located in Prairie Village, KS)

Ross & Baruzzini is looking for an entry-level Electrical Engineer to perform electrical design and engineering on assigned projects under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer. This position includes preparation of electrical drawings in Revit and AutoCAD in the production of projects in multiple market sectors.

  • Perform electrical evaluations, system calculations, and equipment layouts for lighting, power, communications, and fire alarm systems.

  • Assist in review of codes to ensure designs meet all applicable codes and safety standards.

  • Interact and coordinate with facility owners, clients, and/or architects as needed either independently or with a staff/project manager; and may prepare project narratives, meeting notes, or production schedules to support the timely and accurate delivery of projects.

  • Conduct site surveys to determine existing facility conditions either independently or with a staff/project manager.

  • Assist the design team in the coordination with other disciplines including architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and civil.

  • Assist in providing electrical cost opinions.

  • Accompany staff/project manager in performing project job site visits during construction to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes. Assist in preparing punch lists and project observations reports to note findings.

  • Attend and participate in in-house training sessions to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas.

  • Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering (with an Electrical emphasis) or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program

  • 0-4 years' experience in facility design or construction; prior internship experience preferred

  • EIT Certification preferred, but not required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of Revit (Required) and AutoCAD (preferred)

  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents

  • Excellent organizational, technical, and documentation skills

  • Motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills
