Supports the Corporate Compliance Program by conducting ongoing auditing and monitoring of coding, billing and documentation practices to assure accuracy and compliance with hospital policies and governmental regulations. Under the direction of the Director, Compliance & Audit Services, conduct medical audits related to compliance which requires clinical knowledge and experience to correctly interpret medical records and related information. Accept and execute assignments and administrative matters with a high degree of variance and confidentiality.
High school diploma or GED
Credentialed with RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CPC
At least five (5) years experience in inpatient or outpatient coding
Proficiency in personal computer applications, focus on Microsoft package
Strong organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
Independent judgment in investigation and preparation of documents
Bachelor’s in Health Information Management
Completion of an AHIMA accredited Health Information Management or Coding Program
Experience in conducting coding and billing audits
Experience in report design and creation
