Burns & McDonnell Assistant Environmental Scientist - Environmental Studies (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri
Burns & McDonnell’s Environmental Services global practice is seeking an entry-level (0 to 2 years professional experience) Assistant Environmental Scientist for its Kansas City, Missouri office location. This position will involve supporting routing/site selection studies, preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, FAA notifications, GIS map preparation and analysis, conducting field surveys and assessments, and researching and preparing technical reports and permitting documents. Work includes a mix of field assessments, data analysis, report/permit preparation, GIS, and travel. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, Environmental Science, biology or a related natural science degree from an accredited program required.
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Prior internship or natural science field experience preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
Basic knowledge of environmental site assessment methods.
Basic knowledge of environmental compliance and compliance audits.
Basic knowledge of the environmental permitting process.
Basic knowledge of GPS and working in the ArcGIS desktop environment.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
