Merck Associate Director, US Payer Marketing in Jefferson City, Missouri

The Associate Director, U.S. Payer Marketing, is responsible for developing a deep understanding of key managed care customer segments to create market access strategies and solutions for the assigned brands. The role will also be accountable for overseeing brand strategy and implementation with the Integrated Account Management Account Executives.
In this role, the Associate Director will be required to collaborate with multiple functions including stakeholders from Brand Marketing, Promotions, Outcomes Research, Global Market Access, and Integrated Account Management in support of managed care customer segment strategies.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Work closely with US Brand Marketing and Integrated Account Management (IAM) organization to support overall objective of achieving profitable market access and growing net income for respective brands
Develop payer customer segment strategy and promotional campaigns for all US payer customer segments (health plan, PBM, Medicaid, Medicare, federal, pharmacy, hospital and GPO)
Develop payer and health system value messages, pricing and contracting strategies
Work with Senior Specialist to develop and deploy resources to support managed care strategy
Support appropriate pull-through activities and payer related solutions for field sales
Support US Finance in development of segment level forecasts in support of brand forecast
Provide US payer input into Global Access Teams, new product planning, and business development teams
Work with US Outcomes research to inform outcome research plans in support of the payer value proposition
Position will be responsible for Payer Marketing of the inline and pipeline HIV portfolio within Hospital Specialty Business Unit.
Education Minimum Requirements:
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of five (5) years healthcare industry experience (includes experience in a Healthcare customer facing, brand marketing, pharmaceutical strategy or healthcare consulting, Promotion Management, or Market Research roles)
Preferred Experience and Skills :
Experience in customer facing or marketing experience (e.g., sales management, customer management, account management or marketing).
Account Management/Contract Negotiation experience
Consulting/Stakeholder Management experience
Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem solving, analytical critical thinking and planning skills
Excellent leadership and communication skills (written & verbal)
Demonstrated understanding of US healthcare trends and policy issues and their potential impact upon our company's business opportunities
Marketing or Promotional experience
Demonstrated experience in financial management (e.g., brand budget, profit plan, sales forecasts)
