Silgan Containers Corporation Human Resources Manager in Grandview, Missouri


Develops and maintains systems that ensure compliance with local, state and federal and work related laws including FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, Wage & Hours, etc. Provides opportunities for associates and management to interact on a personal level such as the associate picnic, the United Way Day of Caring and the Associate Appreciation events. Thoroughly investigates associate relations issues, determines and delivers corrective/disciplinary action as needed. Supervises administrative functions; coaches and encourages direct reports. Serves as strategic partner to business/operations management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Investigates employee issues, determines & delivers corrective action.


Special projects.


Determines HR needs and makes recommendations to management.


Manages the hourly payroll functions. Plans & assigns administrative work; coaches & encourages direct reports.


Oversees recruiting for hourly/salaried positions.


Plans, coordinates or supports associate training (NEO, harassment, etc).


Ensures compliance with local, state and federal HR/payroll laws.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years previous progressively responsible experience in manufacturing Human Resources setting.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of the legal environment surrounding the Human Resource function.

  • Previous experience with ADA, FMLA, OSHA, EEO, etc.

  • Ability to build trusting relationships with both associates and management.

  • Must be comfortable with public speaking.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to coordinate associate functions including training and activities.
