Daniel Boone Regional Library Youth Services Librarian in Columbia, Missouri
We are seeking a Youth Services Librarian to join our dynamic team who is committed to customer service, excellent communication, teamwork, learning and personal growth .
Provide expertise in the delivery of library services to all patrons, with a focus on service to youth.
Develop and present engaging library programs for children and teens.
Collaborate with the youth services team to develop, promote and facilitate innovative programs to build literacy and the love of reading to meet the needs of the community’s children, parents and childcare providers.
Work with the collection management team to shape and maintain the collection ensuring it is diverse, current, relevant and meets the needs of the community.
Mentor library staff in preparing and presenting children’s programs.
Maintain a working knowledge of trends in children’s literature and public library services to participate and contribute in the strategic planning process.
May serve as a passport acceptance agent.
ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies.
2-3 years of relevant public library work experience.
Strong computer and other related technology skills, including knowledge of social media and eBook technologies.
Experience with database searching, reader’s advisory, demonstrated reference interviewing skills, training/teaching skills, public speaking/programming, community networking and advocacy experience strongly preferred.
Must pass passport acceptance agent training within 30 days of employment (if eligible).
Schedule: Full-time, exempt position-working 40 hours per week, combination of daytime and evening hours required, average of ten Saturdays per year and four Sundays per year. Schedule will be determined based on the needs of the department.

Salary: $43,139.20 annual starting salary or commensurate with experience.
