Crop Efficiency & Disease Discovery Intern
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Crop Efficiency and Disease Discovery Intern, are to:
Report into the Crop Efficiency and Disease Discovery team in Bayer Crop Science Biotech Division;
Be self-motivated, have strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate problem solving abilities, and be leaders among their peers;
Collate and analyze large quantitate genetic, genomic, sequence and physiology data sets to discovery new insights into gene/allele to trait correlations;
Work on expert level application of quantitative genetics, genomics and bioinformatics;
Work on expert level application of data science and informatics to manage data sets and analytics;
Understand molecular genetics to formulate hypotheses for allele effects in germplasm;
Work on interpretation of gene to trait correlations;
Work on Data Collection, analysis methods and statistics;
Work on plant physiology and trait biology;
Have communication and collaboration across organizations.

Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or Post-Doctoral program;
Major or Minor focus on Data Science, genomics or informatics;
Ability to build relationships and work well in a team-based environment;
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization;
Self-motivated with a strong results orientation;
Demonstrate ability to manage a deadline while being able to focus on details;
Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to organize (thoughts, data, etc.);
Excellent computer skills related to data acquisition and record keeping;
Demonstrated leadership ability;
Desire to learn and willing to ask questions and able to adapt to change.
Pursing a degree in Biology, Plant Science, Breeding or Crop Science experience in quantitative genetics;
Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Quantitative genetics or bioinformatics course work.
