Hunter Engineering Company offers state-of-the-art automotive service equipment such as wheel alignment systems, wheel balancers, tire changers, lift racks, and brake testers.
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for all aspects of your production parts for our four manufacturing plants in St. Louis, Missouri and in Mississippi. You are in charge of the entire commodity from vendor selection through following up on quality and delivery issues. Your decisions will take into account quality, price, lead-time, vendor capabilities. Information (such as inventory and quality) is displayed graphically so that you can quickly understand the situation. Our purchasing department uses advanced tools that make the daily tasks quick and easy, so that you can concentrate your efforts on value added activities such as lowering total cost of ownership, improving quality and delivery metrics. The location for this role will be Hunter Engineering Company’s headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri.
Total responsibility for respective commodity area and supply base.
Purchase required parts and materials for production at multiple locations to assure on-time delivery at superior levels of quality, price, and supplier support.
Lead and facilitate the strategic source selection and approval process, carefully monitoring supply base for opportunities.
Keep current on industry-wide pricing trends, technological innovations, and overall market conditions through research and effective supplier interaction.
Identify, quote, and award bid packages based on Total Cost of Ownership.
Improve the value provided to the company by driving supply chain initiatives and strategic projects.
Work closely with vendors by conducting on-site production facility audits and quarterly performance reviews to support exceptional supplier management.
Review and analyze quality metrics to implement appropriate corrective actions with suppliers.
Promote lean initiatives through proper inventory analysis, strategic material acquisition, and effective delivery management.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
0 to 3 years’ supply chain or purchasing experience.
Proven drive to succeed.
Ability to learn in a fast paced manufacturing environment
Documented history of results.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills a plus.
Working knowledge of purchasing systems and procedures.
Understanding of the hardware & fastener industry a plus but not required
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, etc.
